My happiness experiment

Dear readers,

I’ve always felt that one of the most important things that I have yet to learn is to be more grateful and enjoy my life in the present moment. Instead of that I often focus on the future and forget to live fully and enjoy my time NOW. I consider myself blessed, as I’ve had so many opportunities to travel, learn and meet amazing people. I have the freedom to study what I want and travel anywhere. Still, I feel like things could be improved, by making small changes in my everyday life.

After many stressful months, full of complaining,I realized that I need to change my attitude. My friends and family told me several times that I “complain too much”,which I failed to accept and instead kept telling myself that something must be wrong with the world around me.

There is a part of me inside that wants to explore, travel, and achieve all my dreams, but rather than making those dreams come true, I sat back and expected everything to happen somehow. I assumed that life will certainly show me the way I’m supposed to go. However, I realized that this is not the case. If I want to truly achieve my goals, I have to work on them and make a plan. At first I want to start by making small changes and incorporate them into my daily life. I’ve decided to start an experiment which would allow me to make a  positive difference. My goal at the end of these 6 months is to be more confident, grateful and healthy.

Here is a list of 4 things I plan on doing in the next 6 months:

1.Create a blog

A first step towards this is creating a blog, where I want to keep a record of my progress and which can serve as a place where I can share my ideas and write about my passion.  I also aspire to improve my writing skills (English is my second language). Well, I’ve already completed this task, and I can tell you that writing my first post was pretty difficult.

2.Do 5 healthy things everyday

Although I am relatively healthy, I have some health issues that I’m already tired of dealing with (skin problems, low energy, hormonal issues). Although, I should be glad that I don’t have any major health problems, I honestly think that nobody should go through this. These issues have been going on for years and years, and even though I have visited several doctors, nobody really helped me (except for giving me Accutane). Therefore, I decided to take my health into my own hands. I decided to try and adopt these 5 healthy habits, do them everyday and monitor my progress to see if it makes any difference.

  1. Sleep for at least 9 hours everyday ( even if I have shitloads of homework)
  2. Take all the supplements that my naturopath recommended to me (Pantethine, Fish Oil, Vitamin D, Multivitamin, Sensitol and probiotics)
  3. Exercise ( At least 30 minutes everyday, if not more)
  4. Drink green tea ( Also called the healthiest drink in the world )
  5. Have a positive attitude and practise self love

3. Be grateful

I am currently studying in Canada (Toronto) for my final year of high school. I decided to study here, because I was tired of our education system back home. I craved something greater and a school where I could be content and motivated to learn.

Several months have passed, and I still find myself being more negative than I should, as I did back home. That is when I realized, that no matter where you are in the world, happiness comes from within. I am also very lucky, to be able to move to Toronto and get my diploma in a Canadian school,as this enables me to study whatever I desire. This is something that shaped my life in a very positive way, but to genuinely enjoy my time here, I need to start appreciating all I that have and use my time here in a more productive way (for example: travel in Ontario).

PS: I also have a wonderful boyfriend, if you’re reading this. I love you ❤ !

4. Travel

If there’s something that I’ve been passionate about for my entire life without exception, it’s definitely traveling! I’ve had lived in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ireland and Canada and next year I’m moving to Scotland. I can see myself traveling even more in the future, as it really fascinates me to see different cultures and the wonders of the mother earth. This is one of the reasons why I decided to start a blog, where I can share my photos, saving money and traveling tips which I’ll discover along the way.

I hope that all of this made you interested in reading more about my progress and that hopefully you’ll get inspired to make some changes as well.
